I have went back to 75 yards onto steel without issues at all. This was just at 25 yards because like I said, I was mainly just shooting over the chrono but touching at that distance without really trying is pretty darn good. I wasn't even intending to see how accurate they were, but it worked out well. In the target below, I was testing out 2 different powders over a chrono and that's why there are 2 different groups circled. View QuoteThe barrels are very accurate from what I have seen. Please forgive the chatter in the video, I was checking the bullets over a chrony after I got everything together so I would know where I stand with everything.Īnyway, if anyone else is considering a 9x39 integral build, maybe some of this will help. I'm going to attach a video and shows how that sounded first (you'll be able to hear the noise with the 9mm can) and then subsequent shots were with the integral. I will say though, when I was first getting the upper together and using one of my 9mm cans while waiting on the new tax stamp, the 9mm can had a pretty small expansion chamber, was still pretty loud so I just wanted to let you know that so when you're planning your build, you know to make an extremely short expansion chamber. For anyone who enjoys making their own suppressors, you're going to have your own ideas that you're going to want to use anyway. ![]() That is not the point or purpose of the thread. I'm not going to get into baffle types, spacing and anything internal of the can. I mainly just wanted to start the topic to share everything that I've done to help anyone else who has been trying to research everything to try to put the info in one place if anyone was looking for it because there is little out there for the 9x39 cartridge. Which sounds like a lot, but considering where the center of gravity is in front of the magwell, it feels really good in the hand and balances well. The total weight ended up being 20.4 ounces altogether. I ended up making the suppressor overall 16-3/4 inches. So, I wanted to start slow and work my way up as needed out of precaution. Since no one has made an integral 9x39 in the states before, I was kind of flying by the seat of my pants by making 20 ports right out of the gate, but from my research says the VSS has fifty four 2mm ports. Though I dimpled the barrel enough to make 30 if I wanted to. Next up, I put twenty 1.5mm ports from 7-10 inches in the barrel so I didn't starve the gas system dwell while still porting a significant amount of gas out over the barrel. But I used a tap and a bolt and plugged off the old port. I'm unsure why they're not making micro gas port barrels in the first place. So far, I have mostly been using Clays and Titegroup powder. 109" gas port diameter so I could use fast burning powders without issue. I also shortened the 10.5" KAK barrel gas block to 4.5" instead of the 6" pistol length more similar to where the VSS is ported and I used a. Since I was already drilling and threading on the bolt carrier for the bolt handle, I also put about a dozen holes in it and reduced the weight by about 5/8 of an ounce. So, I'm mostly going to be using the can without the wipe since I think it sounds good as is without it. ![]() There is not much gassing at all without the wipe. It's only purpose is to fill the gap in the back of the receiver for when I'm shooting to keep some of the blow back gas out of my aiming eye when/if I'm using the wipe, which does seriously increase back pressure. I also trimmed the ears off of the old charging handle. I have not tried any factory ammo with the gun since moving the gas port so I don't know if that buffer and spring would be too light or not. I am also using this upper on the sbr lower that I have been using my integrally suppressed blackout upper on and already have a 1 ounce taccom buffer and tubbs lightweight flat coil spring. I had initially planned to just make a manually operated bolt, but ended up hooking up a gas block anyway. ![]() The upper has went on a slick side upper that I milled a slot to make it a left side charging handle upper. In order to not hijack or muck up a few of the other threads from guys who are working on 9x39 projects, I decided to start my own topic.
